Mechanical Refinishing of Honed Travertine
For scratch, etch, wear pattern removal and to restore the surface to an even finish. Depending on the severity of the damage to the stone and/or the desired surface appearance, we will use one or more of the following honing powders 80/280/400/600/800.
For refinishing to a honed finish:
- Vacuum all dust, dirt and debris.
- Strip off all topical finishes such as waxes and coatings.
- Refinish using a weighted floor machine fitted with a natural hair pad.
- Refinish area with one or more of the above mentioned powders until the desired level of hone has been achieved.
Sealing & Protecting
Natural stone surfaces must be sealed to prevent or minimize staining. Leaving natural stone untreated may greatly hinder the complete removal of stains in the future.
Why should I seal my grout and natural stone?
A protected stone will be easier to clean, resist staining, and provide a safer and healthier environment. Considering the investment, why wouldn't you provide the surface with the maximum protection possible?
What is a sealer?
A sealer is like a coat of armor for your stone. The sealer we use will decrease the opportunity that anything can stain or harm your surface. We believe that you should always use an impregnation sealer allowing you to retain the natural beauty of the surface.
