Frequently Asked Questions

What can I do to prepare for my carpet cleaning service?

  • Move small items and breakables from the area to be cleaned.
  • Remove items from furniture that can cause excess weight such as book and knick-knacks if we are to move and clean underneath. Remember to clean out drawers that are full of heavy items.
  • Advise of any special considerations prior to your service. Our cleaning specialists should be told of any special requirements when moving your furniture (i.e., weak legs, loose tops, etc.) We will only move furniture that is reasonably moveable for one person.
  • Remove any small pieces of furniture such as dining room chairs, magazine racks, etc. from the carpet which is to be cleaned. This will shorten processing time and return the carpet to normal use sooner.

What can I expect your cleaning technician to do?

  • Pre-inspection: We will evaluate your carpet's needs. Every carpet must be treated differently. We will decide what will be the best method for cleaning your carpet. You will know up front what we can and can't do. This way there are no surprises.
  • Moving Furniture: When necessary we will move and replace small furniture in its original position.
  • Pre-treatment: We treat spots and stains in the carpet as necessary and apply a carpet cleaning solution to the entire carpet.
  • Carpet Cleaning: We use our state-of-the-art Boxxer 421 for a fast and thorough deep cleaning of your carpet.
  • Post-inspection: Once the project is completed, we re-inspect the carpet cleaning services with you to ensure that all the work was done to your satisfaction.
  • Protect & Groom: When necessary we will place blocks or foil under furniture legs to protect them during the drying process and groom the carpet for a clean inviting look.

What should I do after the carpet cleaning?

To decrease drying time, try to keep the room temperature about 72 degrees and use fans to circulate the air around the cleaned carpet.

How often should my carpets be cleaned?

As explained earlier, vacuuming alone, although essential, cannot maintain the appearance of a carpet at an acceptable level for long. Depending on various factors, the appearance of any carpet will ultimately reach an unacceptable level. At that stage, cleaning is necessary by one of the methods mentioned above. The frequency of such cleaning will depend on a carpet's use conditions, soil conditions, fiber type, constructional specifications, color, etc. In general, residential carpet requires cleaning within one to one and one-half years; certainly before two years of use (and possible abuse). Commercial carpet cleaning should be performed every 6-12 months, depending on the volume of traffic.

Carpet Protector (Optional)?

A chemical treatment, which resists soiling and helps prevent water based spots and spills from becoming hard to remove stains.
A professional spray-treatment with “Scotchguard®” Carpet Protector provides a barrier that makes it difficult for dirt particles to cling to carpet fibers. Routine vacuuming becomes more effective. Your carpet looks cleaner longer. And a cleaner carpet means less wear and a brighter appearance. With this long lasting barrier on your carpet, most spills can be easily cleaned up.

How does Scotchquard Keep my freshly cleaned carpeting looking new longer?

This newest “Scotchguard®” Protector is one of a family of “Scotchguard®” products that have been developed over the last 25 years. It is backed by the same meticulous quality standards that have made the name “Scotchguard®” synonymous with fabric protection.

Since carpets treated with “Scotchguard®” Carpet Protector look clean longer, time between cleanings can be extended. Dry soil is held loosely between the treated carpet fibers and can be easily removed with simple vacuuming. Routine cleaning and spotting becomes more effective, and most spills can be quickly removed. “Scotchguard®” protection will last even under heavy traffic and regular vacuuming.

Q. I've heard that I don't need to or I shouldn't seal my grout, is that true?

A. It's true. Grout does not have to be sealed. But without some sort of protection, the grout will begin absorbing dirt and grime immediately after installation. Because grout is a porous material, it will readily absorb dirt and stains even with regular mopping. This can leave the grout color looking uneven and dirty. And that can spoil the look of a whole room. Grout does not have to be sealed unless keeping it looking clean is important. But what sealer is the best? Most sealers on the market today, even the expensive ones, only provide stain resistance. Stain resistance means you have a little more time to pick up a spill, but it's just not enough protection for most homeowners. Just sealing grout doesn't make it stain proof. Ideally, grout would be stain proof; protected so well that no matter what spills on it, the grout won't discolor. Spills would be easily wiped away leaving the grout looking like the day it was installed. The floor would be easily maintained with regular mopping and look new for years to come. Sounds too good to be true but that's exactly what we do! We specialize in restoring and protecting grout.

Q. I've heard something about color stain sealing grout. What is color stain sealing and what does it do?

A. Color stain sealing grout significantly reduces the maintenance required to preserve the beauty of your tile. The protection allows spills and dirt to be removed easily without leaving permanent stains. This fantastic process restores grout color to brand new again, making the grout completely uniform in color. It also protects the grout so well that dirt and common household spills are unable to penetrate into the grout, making the floor much easier to maintain. We can even change grout colors without removing the grout. There are 100's of colors and shades to choose from. Even floors with permanent stains can be brought back to a brand new look.

Q. How long do I have to stay off the floor after it has been restored?

A. Typically a floor will be ready for light foot traffic in only 2 hours.
